The budding paleontologists in Jr. Kindergarten have been researching dinosaurs during Dino Week. They finally got the opportunity to put their dinosaur research to good use when they went on their first dino dig! Learners were given tools such as toothpicks, wooden sticks, blocks, paintbrushes, and nails. Their objective was to uncover the “fossil” hidden in the rock while also practicing safety. Jr. Kindergarteners put their Habits of Mind to good use during this project! Each learner demonstrated phenomenal persistence as they worked hard to crack open the rock and carefully uncover their dinosaur. They worked interdependently as they helped classmates chisel through the rock to reach the dino. They also managed their impulsivity as they carefully removed the plaster “rock” from around their dinosaur’s bones without breaking them.
It was a great day to be in JK!
