Miss Hansen's and Mrs. Allen's PL classes were able to Zoom with a community helper in North Carolina with South Dakota ties. Miss Shantel French is a substitute teacher who also happens to be a pilot. Shantel has been flying supplies to those in need in the Carolinas as part of Hurricane Relief Effort. Over 400 roads were closed in Western North Carolina so getting supplies to those in need had to be delivered through the air. Shantel raised over $5000 in donations to help aid those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Shantel is a a friend of Miss Hansen and former 2nd grade student of Mrs. Garrett.
