As of late, prom season was in full swing at Harrisburg High School. Many of the girls spent time picking out the perfect dress while the boys tried to find a tie to match. The theme for this year’s prom was “Golden Masquerade.” “It sounded elegant and quite manageable,” stated junior Lauren Johnson, a member of the prom planning committee. Although prom is one of the most anticipated events of the school year for Harrisburg High School juniors and seniors, Mrs. Olivia Tracy, one of the HHS staff members who assisted with prom, explained, “The biggest challenge in organizing prom is getting a number of juniors to participate consistently.” All of the juniors and staff members on the prom planning committee were very excited to see how everything would come together. They spent a significant amount of time planning and organizing prom, so as the big day approached, they worked hard to start assembling decorations. Lauren noted, “I’m excited for how it is going to look. Personally, I think the theme is super cool, so I can’t wait to set everything set up!” As for Mrs. Tracy, she commented, “I am excited to see all of the decorations come together to create an overall theme. We see pieces as they get completed, but it always makes a big difference to see all of the completed decor put together in the commons and gym to convey the theme chosen by the juniors.” Grand March took place on Saturday, March 30th, at 7:30pm, in the HHS gymnasium.
