This season the Harrisburg Competitive Cheer Team is focusing on technique, routine difficulty, and sportsmanship throughout the team. The team's head coach, Eve Langerock, explained, “Our goals are to push beyond limits for a clean and solid routine. We want to give 100% at every practice, have positive attitudes, and encourage teammates on and off the mat.” Along with these practice goals, the team also has competitive goals. A senior on the team, Amber Bergman, shared her hopes for this season: win ESD, Metro, and State. This goal will not be easy to accomplish, but as they keep improving, hopefully, the group will continue to experience a successful season.
Even though the team has seen early success with placing first in their first three competitions, there are still improvements that the athletes and coaches would like to make. A returning athlete on the cheer team, Josie Woodson, said, “I would like to improve on staying positive and making everyone feel included.” So far this year’s team has shown how hard work and a positive attitude can pay off. According to Coach Langerock, “Each year of the program we see incredible growth in talent, expectations, and goals. We are different this year because we have a stronger mentality in what we can accomplish. Because of this mental toughness, they have confidence in their abilities and work hard to reach those goals every single day of the season. The girls believe in their goals and want to reach them, so they are focused on putting in the work.” Hopefully, the Harrisburg Cheer team continues to win and improve throughout the season; among these goals, the team will strive to maintain positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.
