Special Diet Prescription Application

Harrisburg has a new online free and reduced meal application.  This can be found on the Parent Portal under Application/Forms.  If you do not have a parent portal account please contact Jean Hudson at 605-743-2567 ext. 3010.  If you are having difficulties with the online application please contact Chris Beach.

Peanut Policy

The Child Nutrition Department utilizes a computerized point of sale system to track student meals and account balances. Each student is issued a Student Lunch ID number and Grades 4 to 12 are issued an Identification Badge which is linked to their individual account. Students that are issued ID Badges are required to present their Badge when they check out at the end of the meal line. Money can be deposited into a student’s individual account either by sending cash or check with the student to school. When a check is sent please indicated the student’s name(s) and dollar amount to be deposited, in the memo section on the check. Parents can also utilize our online payment system which can be found on the tab under Resources. This method will require each student’s Lunch ID number.

Please refer to the Student Handbook for the specific charging policy for your building. They can be found under each building’s tab on this website. Low account balance reminders are emailed home each day when a student’s account reaches $10.00 or below. You can check your student’s account balance or activity via the Parent Portal. Harrisburg School District’s Food Service program is designed so students have the ability to purchase their meals ahead of time, and therefore do not have to physically pay each time they eat. Each student has an individual meal account in which parents or guardians can easily add money to via check or credit card.

It is our practice to send reminder notices when account balances reach $10.00 or less. All notices are sent out via the email addresses that we have in our database.  The Harrisburg School District strives to provide an efficient, low cost, food service program to its students and appreciates your contribution by maintaining a positive balance in your students’ accounts. You are also able to view food service activity and balances at any time via the Parent Portal.
